Our History

In July 2018, we (Robin and Sally) were given the opportunity to move our very successful B&B business based in Herefordshire back home to Ludlow. We were featured in the Daily Telegraph in September 2017 as a ‘Top 10 UK Cool Bed and Breakfasts ‘(and sometimes dinner) so we had honed our hospitality skills quite well over the past 5 years!

Prior to starting ‘Bed and Breakfast’ , Sally had her very popular shop for nearly 10 years in the middle of Ludlow and was proud and honoured to be a part of that community and where we lived before moving across the border – thus we have now moved back home!

Renovations commenced at Crow Leasow in September 2018 and on 25thNovember 2018 we moved in to join our lovely builders and electricians and decorators. We were in chaos for the next few months but opened for  Easter 2019. Restoring, renovating and re-planting  – from the haha surrounding the garden, new ensuite bathrooms, installing a new drive way and parking for our guests, to sanding and polishing the lovely wooden floors. We’ve sourced yet more period furnishing to add to the array of suitably old pieces we brought from our other old B&B – from 4 posters to longcase clocks to court cupboards. It now looks as if we have been here forever.

We still have the stabling and kitchen gardens and orchards to do but, as they say, Rome was not built in a day! As work progresses, Sally’s blog on www.facebook. and Instagram  will chart the progress and the website be updated as new things take shape!

Our move and renovations were followed by the tv cameras – a period of highs and lows – for a new series on Channel 4 – ‘The Great Hotel Escape’. It was entire coincidence that the researchers contacted us, just as we were planning relocation. Therefore our story was quite interesting not to mention entertaining as the meltdowns accompanying a move and renovations were filmed and useful to us as for publicity as a move means that the reviews we gathered at our old place stay with the place and not the providers of the hospitality!

Happily, as can be seen from a selection of reviews we have gathered since we opened here, we have lovely guests who have been more than happy to follow us. They/ you find better facilities than those we were able to provide before but the same level of relaxed hospitality and good food that brings them/ you back to us!

Our philosophy is to provide a very comfy home-from-home environment with the company of the dogs, cat and sometimes the odd hen who wanders in through the normally open doors in the summer, not simply a place to rest your head or the smart formality of a hotel. Unlike a self-catering place, you can expect to be well fed ( with someone else doing the clearing and washing up !), borrow the dogs for a walk, have a bit of chatter and tap into local knowledge with your hosts. We are all friendly here…..
